Review of the 7th International Conference on Fossil Insects, Arthropods and Amber, Edinburgh 2016

We have just returned from the 7th International Conference on Fossil Insects, Arthropods and Amber, 2016. It was hosted by the National Museums Scotland (NMS) under the auspices of the International Palaeoentomological Society (IPS) and organized by Dr Andrew Ross (NMS) and his team, with input from David Penney and Siri Scientific Press who edited and published the abstracts volume. Additional support was provided by the Palaeontological Association which provided financial support for the Keynote speakers. Palaeontographical Society Prize awarded to our author Dean Lomax

We would like to congratulate Dean Lomax on being awarded the Edward Forbes Prize by the Palaeontographical Society, the oldest society devoted specifically to the advancement of palaeontological knowledge. This award aims to recognise outstanding contributions by early career researchers in the field of taxonomic and systematic palaeontology, and specifically for the study of fossils from the British Isles. We are pleased to announce that Siri Scientific Press are part sponsoring the trophy awards ceremony for Shawclough Football Club, due to be held on June 4th. One of the highlights of my week is going to the mini-league football matches on a Sunday morning and seeing all the kids running around outdoors and having fun, which is exactly what kids should be doing.
