Fossil jellyfish are exceptionally rare, particularly where they are preserved in mass stranding event settings and it is not hard to imagine why. Who would ever expect such soft-bodied organisms to leave identifiable traces of their existence in the fossil record? Love them or loathe them, spiders seem to be all over the place, whether it be sitting on a flower head, hanging in the middle of a beautifully geometric orb web or scuttling across your floor.
